Before you scan

  • Place your document face-down on the scanner glass, aligned to the top-left corner — or load into the ADF (top feeder) for multi-page documents
  • Make sure the printer is on and connected to the network
EMAIL Scan to Email

Send a scan directly from the printer to any email address

  1. On the printer touchscreen, press Home then select Scan.
  2. Select Email.
  3. Enter the recipient’s email address using the on-screen keyboard — or select from Contacts or History.
  4. Tap Scan Settings to choose your file format (PDF recommended), color mode, and resolution.
  5. Optionally edit the Subject and File Name.
  6. Tap the Send (paper plane) icon to scan and send.

Use PDF for documents and JPEG for photos. Searchable PDF lets you copy text from the scan.

FOLDER Scan to Network Folder

Save directly to a shared drive folder

  1. On the printer touchscreen, press Home then select Scan.
  2. Select Network Folder/FTP.
  3. Select your destination folder from the list (your front desk or IT team can confirm the folder name).
  4. Tap Scan Settings to set file format and resolution.
  5. Tap Scan to save the file to the folder.

If your folder doesn’t appear in the list or shows an error, submit a support ticket — the folder path may need to be re-registered.

COMPUTER Scan to Computer

Scan directly into your laptop using Epson Scan 2

You’ll need Epson Scan 2 installed on your computer. Download it free from epson.com/support (search for ET-5880).

  3. Choose your scan mode: Document Mode for text/PDFs or Photo Mode for images.
  4. Set your file format, resolution, and save location.
  5. Click Scan. The file saves automatically to your chosen folder.

First time? You may need to select the printer from the Source dropdown in Epson Scan 2. Look for ET-5880 in the list.

MOBILE Epson Smart Panel App

Scan from your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone

Download Epson Smart Panel from the App Store or Google Play. Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi as the printer.

  1. Open Epson Smart Panel and select your printer.
  2. Tap Scan.
  3. Choose your destination: save to your phone, share via email, or upload to cloud storage.
  4. Adjust settings (color, format, resolution) as needed.
  5. Tap Scan to complete.

Epson Smart Panel also lets you check ink levels and manage printer settings from your phone.
