The Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5880 printers at Lucid Private Offices support multiple scanning methods — directly from the printer panel, to email, to a network folder, or to your computer.
| I want to... | Use this method |
|---|---|
| Email myself a scanned document | Scan to Email |
| Save a scan to a shared folder | Scan to Network Folder |
| Scan to my laptop or desktop | Scan to Computer |
| Scan from my phone | Epson Smart Panel App |
|
Before you scan
|
Send a scan directly from the printer to any email address |
- On the printer touchscreen, press Home then select Scan.
- Select Email.
- Enter the recipient’s email address using the on-screen keyboard — or select from Contacts or History.
- Tap Scan Settings to choose your file format (PDF recommended), color mode, and resolution.
- Optionally edit the Subject and File Name.
- Tap the Send (paper plane) icon to scan and send.
Use PDF for documents and JPEG for photos. Searchable PDF lets you copy text from the scan.
Save directly to a shared drive folder |
- On the printer touchscreen, press Home then select Scan.
- Select Network Folder/FTP.
- Select your destination folder from the list (your front desk or IT team can confirm the folder name).
- Tap Scan Settings to set file format and resolution.
- Tap Scan to save the file to the folder.
If your folder doesn’t appear in the list or shows an error, submit a support ticket — the folder path may need to be re-registered.
Scan directly into your laptop using Epson Scan 2 |
You’ll need Epson Scan 2 installed on your computer. Download it free from epson.com/support (search for ET-5880).
- Open Epson Scan 2 on your computer.
- Make sure the scanner is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
- Choose your scan mode: Document Mode for text/PDFs or Photo Mode for images.
- Set your file format, resolution, and save location.
- Click Scan. The file saves automatically to your chosen folder.
First time? You may need to select the printer from the Source dropdown in Epson Scan 2. Look for ET-5880 in the list.
Scan from your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone |
Download Epson Smart Panel from the App Store or Google Play. Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi as the printer.
- Open Epson Smart Panel and select your printer.
- Tap Scan.
- Choose your destination: save to your phone, share via email, or upload to cloud storage.
- Adjust settings (color, format, resolution) as needed.
- Tap Scan to complete.
Epson Smart Panel also lets you check ink levels and manage printer settings from your phone.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Scan to Email fails or times out | Check that the printer’s date and time are correct (Settings → General Settings → Date/Time). Notify the front desk if the issue persists. |
| Network folder not showing or error opening | Submit a support ticket — the folder path may need to be updated by the tech team. |
| Epson Scan 2 can’t find the printer | Make sure your computer is on the same Wi-Fi network as the printer. Try restarting Epson Scan 2. |
| Scan comes out blurry or crooked | Clean the scanner glass with a soft dry cloth. Make sure the document is flat and aligned to the corner guides. |
| ADF (top feeder) jams | Remove all pages, fan them loosely, and reload. Do not overfill — max 30 pages at a time. |
